Give for paws

My pet friendly project’s case

--

As a parent of a dog and animals protector I’ve decided to create some tool which may simplify work of NCO organizations.
Despite of development of low in field of animal protection, the world still has a huge problem of handling animals, I do this research in case of shelters who usually need lots of different things to support abandoned animals.

The 1st idea:
such mobile app I expect to be for non-commence organizations only. It shows progress of projects and ability to donate only to chosen activity. Also the app has posts informing users about the results from project’s progress.

User’s flow:
as a user I want to explore projects in the app, choose a project and check its description. Then I want to make a donation. As a result I want to see some message of successful payment and the changes of donation process.

Company’s flow:
as a project I want to cover needs as much as it is possible.
As a result I want to decrease debts or asap payments on handling animals in shelters.

Research
I was trying to contact shelters whom I usually support, but owners were too busy (or they maybe just haven’t seen the real profit of my idea). I did not get any target info about their everyday work. But I was lucky to interview one girl, who is involved in a lot of dogs’ protection projects.
Plus I had asked different people around.

Thoughts
According to the feedback I’ve got, I decided to make a tool for managing resources, but not for donations of money.
I do believe that people like to be a part of something. Plus I mentioned that it’s really difficult to find a drop-off point to donate useless things of my dog. So, I’ve decided to start with one feature – info website where people can check the nearest drop-off point to donate things for shelters (and other NCO projects).

Rivals?

It wasn’t obvious what rivals do we have because the thing I want to create can’t have any (haha). But to understand the area of such apps and projects, I did a research which shows that our “rival” are:

– reselling apps because people may prefer to sell things but not to give away;

– trash cans because people don’t know what to do with useless pets’ things;

– other people because others may prefer to sell C2C.

Then I’ve decided to take a branding for start-ups course in Central Saint Martins. Sounds too serious but it was super helpful for understanding and describing the purpose of my project.

The outcome

We are sure that giving away toys, accessories and other useless things that your lil one doesn’t need anymore may reduce wish-lists of those who need.

It is not easy to find details about shelter and volunteer projects. We want to collect it here: https://giveforpaws.framer.website/
